Finally, after three different attempts, have gotten all the black outlining done on the purple slip.

This is actually a really easy technique to learn and do well. Tent stitch is a just a half cross stitch variation. And you don't count, it's more like colouring in with thread! And if it looks a bit rough and blocky, well, the period ones do to!
