Pearls

I added some more pearls to my current LOG pouch. A few more to go and the embroidery will be done, just a matter of sewing together. That will give me three to send down for Midwinter Coronation. I am having trouble getting into anything at the moment. Except buying supplies. I can still do that unfortunately.

I'm Screwed

Just had a meeting with my boss. I apparently over estimated my importance in the scheme of things. My job will be staying, but they are reclassifying it to a lower level and adding new criteria which means I will no longer be qualified. So I will either be redeployed, which means going into competitive hiring for typist jobs or I get six months to find another job and then I'm sacked. Great start to a Monday.

Finally Got Case

Adam came home this morning and we decided we needed to go shopping for stuff for his friend staying with us. We got that first and then went in search of a case for the iPod. We tried JB HiFi, they have a fair range of players and accessories. But mostly for the mini. Last chance, we tried Domayne. They turned out to have the best range of stuff, even better accessories than the AppleCentre. I found a case close to what I wanted, but a top flap rather than side flap. The colour pink was wrong, so I thought it better to go for a different colour. Might get pink later.

Shopping

Adam came home this morning for a break, so I got a lift down the ferry and went shopping (got the money back from Dad for the car repairs). I checked out OfficeWorks, no cases there for the iPod. Lots of stuff for the mini, but nothing for the full size one.

I had a quick trip to the scrapbooking shop, picked up some paper for an iPod layout and some Making Memories paints.

Then got the bus into Hamilton and walked to the AppleCentre. No suitable cases there either but they did have the funky little Laser Pointer and Flashlight combo that I wanted to get Adam. So he has a present when he gets home.

When I got back to the Mall, there were camels walking past! They'd set up some camel rides for the kids. Boy, do those animals pong!!

I grabbed some lunch and went home. Pretty lazy afternoon, some house work. More playing with iPod.

Toys

Dad and Sheila got back from overseas today. We had tea at my step-sisters cafe. We all got out pressies! I got a small leather goblet with a Tudor rose embossed on it from the Tower of London. Pretty cool.

I got to play with the iPod a bit today as Adam had the car, so that meant I had to get the bus home, good iPod playing oppportunity. I left work half an hour early today to see if I could find a case for the iPod. They didn't have anything in David Jones, so I will keep using the Palm Pilot case I have, it works pretty good.

The iPod Has Landed

Things didn't get off to too good a start this morning. I was waiting around. I figured I would only have to wait to 10am or so, as that was when they had tried to deliver it yesterday. I got a call at about 9.30am saying that they had only just got the message about me being their to get the package and it hadn't been put on the truck! I could have it delivered tomorrow or come and get it. I didn't want to have another day off, which meant either signing the form and getting them to leave it on my front porch all day or going and getting it. We decided on getting! The depot was only about 15mins away from where we lived. Here are a series of photos:

Now those of you who have been paying attention will have noticed something of importance. Yes, that's right. It's not an iPod Mini, it's the flag ship 4th Generation 20Gig iPod!!!!!!!!!!!! Not 1,000 songs, but 5,000 songs. I am never going to fill this sucker up!! Now I am going to have to research all those accessories all over again!

The worst part about these types of electronic products is the inevitable wait for the batteries to charge the first time! Luckily, we were still helping Adam's friend to move, so that kept me occupied.

I'd spent all week putting my music collection into iTunes, so I was ready to go. The first song I listend to was Orff's "O Fortuna" from the Carmina Burana. Suitably dramatic I think.

Missed It By That Much!

I just got home. They tried to deliver the iPod today! Adam was home but he had to help a friend of his do an emergency house move. I was home before 5pm so I rang up and arranged to have it delivered tomorrow. It means a day off work, but the way things are at the moment, I'm not too worried about that.

Thanks

I just want to say thanks to everyone who sent get well messages to me over the last couple of weeks. I have to say, I have never been hit this hard by the flu ever. It was the worst by far that I've ever had. I am still not completely over it, still got stuffed up head and my cough sounds like a German Shepard with a sore throat, but I have my energy back and am able to function as a human being again. To anyone in a flu zone at the moment, take it easy and be careful, this season is going to be a doozy.

The Highs, The Lows and More Highs

On the way over town on Saturday, I found a message on my mobile phone. Some thing about second chance draws and iPods. I got very excited. Unfortuneatly I had to wait until today to find out what the message was about. I rang up on the stroke of 9am. All was going well until I mentioned that I worked at Uni rather than attending as a student. The person I was talking too said that the competition was only for students and that they would have to check to see if I was still eligble to win the prize. They would ring me back. It's now 4pm and they just called, I can have the prize! So I am now the owner of an iPod Mini! Pictures will be posted as soon as the little sucker arrives!

Layouts and Shopping

Went shopping this morning. I got 4 pages done. And I am finally getting over the flu.

Been Down With The Flu

Hi All, incase anyone was wondering, I've been down the last week with the flu. It's been bad and I still have a lingering cough that scares all the animals within a two block radius. Hopefully, I will be over it soon. No stitching at all for over a week, that is how bad it was.

LOG Pouch Progress

This is the pouch at 3 hours sewing, got most of it done last night. But I couldn't get it finished as we had visitors. I should get it completed tonight. Might even get the pearls on.

Another LOG Pouch - Goldwork

I started another LOG pouch today. This is another one that will work up quickly. Its a goldwork design. The stag is based on the Whetstone found at Sutton Hoo. I've had to alter the design a bit to fullfil the heraldic requirements.

This is the design at the marking stage. I will be doing the stars in freshwater pearls.

More Scrapbooking - Tattoo

Did a bit more scrapbooking today. A layout about Adam getting his tatoo.

We are going to Adam's sisters engagement party tonight. We are getting a lift, so we can both have a drink. I need one.

Warning - Depressing Whine and Bad Language

Things are not looking good at work. Huge job losses are now definate. About a 1/4 of the workforce will go, the biggest ever job losses at any Australian tertiary institution. Looks like both Adam and I are going to get sacked. The frustrating thing is it's not our fault the place is in debt and the people who caused it, are now the ones in charge of fixing it. What a complete fucking joke.

Layout - Passed

More scrapbooking done. Here is a layout (well, half anyway, the other half is boring) I did last night.
